House of Prayer Apostolic Church

Pastor Kennedy had been in the ministry for over 25 years. In the early 80s after visiting Bible way Pentecostal assembly, he was asked if he would like to be ordained so he could minister to the churches. From that very moment God has opened doors in many different denominations for him to take part in the ministry.

Pastor Kennedy, after working in nursing homes for over 6 1/2 years, noticed that many believers lived at these addresses and were unable to attend their regular worship services. God then touched Pastor Kennedy’s heart to bring full worship services from choir to testimony to preaching and alter call to them. What a blessing! Many were served for the first time, and many others have been refreshed and restored. Thank God for Jesus!

For well over 10 years, as a ministry Pastor Kennedy had taken the same type of service to the Winfield state Correctional Facility in Winfield, Kansas every 2 nd Saturday. He traveled far and wide to bring revival to area churches traveling as far as Fulton MO Portland OR and Kansas City KS.

While the mission was growing Pastor Kennedy, and the House of Prayer did not have their very own building Brother J.D. Masters was allowing Pastor Kennedy to have Saturday services in their building. At the time House of Prayer gathered when Pastor Kennedy was able to hold street services or setting up in parking lots even different apartment complexes when allowed. While also maintaining the prison ministry right in Winfield and Sedgwick County jail.

The Lord allowed us for the first time to have our very own building on the northeast side of Wichita with only 35 seats and it was amazing how the Lord would fill it up with standing room only. After three years the Lord touched the heart of Mother Ida Mae Timbers to invite Pastor Kennedy to do a three day revival and she later leased her Church property to the ministry. After her death her family sold the property to the ministry for $62,000. After 14 years at 1202 N main the building fell into a need of repair beyond the capability of the ministry. Pastor Kennedy thought it was time for him to give up that part of the ministry and go back to being a full time, Evangelist. But God had other plans! The Sedgwick County school board wanted our property however Pastor Kennedy thought it wasn’t right to sell the property without a place for the people of God to worship. They responded and asked if they could buy 1 1/2 lots for 35,000 but he told them that he could not do that because he still owed 50,000 on the entire property. The Sedgwick County Board agreed to pay that much for only 1 1/2 lots. Almost three years later Mr. Joe Hoover called and told pastor Kennedy that he thought he had found a church property that he might be interested in.

After looking at the property Pastor Kennedy agreed to trade the remainder of our property for the new property at 607 N Madison here in Wichita our property at 1202 N main originally sold for 62,000 and we had only paid 12,000 towards the mortgage. Our new property at 607 N Madison address was appraised at over $450,000. Pastor Kennedy is adamite the Lord must have really wanted to have a House of prayer in this city fore he truly made a way for there to be a House of Prayer Wichita.
